Weather Notice

Passenger safety is the absolute priority of the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal and its associated operators. Cross-boundary maritime travel across the Pearl River Estuary is subject to strict limitations during extreme meteorological events. This advisory outlines the operational protocols activated under various weather alerts.

1. Typhoon Signal No. 3 (Strong Wind Signal) When the Hong Kong Observatory issues Typhoon Signal No. 3, terminal operations will proceed, but sailings may be subject to speed restrictions due to high sea swells. - **Schedules:** Sailings may suffer minor delays of 10 to 20 minutes. Journey times may increase to 75 minutes. - **Vessel Stability:** Hydrofoils (such as TurboJet's Foilcats) maintain excellent stability, but sensitive passengers are advised to seek seating on the lower-rear deck.

2. Typhoon Signal No. 8 (Gale or Storm Signal) Upon the formal announcement of a Pre-No. 8 Special Announcement (typically issued 2 hours before the Signal No. 8 is formally hoisted), **all ferry services will be systematically suspended** to ensure vessels can return to safe anchorages. - **Terminal Evacuation:** The departure hall and boarding gates on Level 3 will be cleared of all passengers. Security shutters will be lowered. - **First/Last Sailings:** Final sailings from both Hong Kong and Macau will be announced immediately via terminal displays, local broadcasts, and digital notification systems. - **No Staging:** Passengers are strongly urged to avoid traveling to Shun Tak Centre once the Pre-No. 8 announcement has been issued, as no ticketing or immigration services will be processed.

3. Ticketing Refund & Exchange Policy In the event of a suspension caused by extreme weather (including Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Black Rainstorm Warnings): - **Fully Refundable:** All unused tickets purchased for sailings canceled due to official service suspensions are eligible for a 100% face-value refund. - **Redemption Period:** Passengers have up to 30 days from the cancellation date to claim their refund or exchange their tickets for a future sailing date at the official Level 3 ticketing counters.
